About F.A.B. Dunning:
In the mid-1800s, authors first began to create humorous and imaginative books that appealed specifically to children. It was during this Golden Age of Children’s Literature that Mrs. Frances A. B. Dunning wrote most of her poems and pre-school songs. While she was quite prolific and wrote many verses, few remain in print. This may be because she was a woman writing during a time when women’s contributions were rarely recognized. It is hoped that Five Hungry Mice, retold and brought to life with vivid illustrations, revives a lost gem to the delight of children everywhere.
